Part Name: Photodiode $850nm$ $45\mu s$ $80°$ Radial
Part Description: A photodiode is a special kind of diode that performs effectively the opposite function of a light-emitting diode. It is a semiconductor device that generates a current in response to excitation from a light source. While the photodiode in your kit is small and typically used for sensing, you may recognize another example of a photodiode in the form of a solar cell, which operates similarly by also converting light energy to power. Your photodiode is most effective at sensing light in the infrared spectrum.
Note: these parts are not included in new microkits. They will be available in laboratories where needed.
